Hi, I’m Deborah. I’m glad you’re here!

I’m obsessed with analyzing language, sharing stories and connecting with audiences. I’m senior editor at NC State University, which means I spend the workday ensuring our communications are accurate, on-brand and understandable for a range of audiences. It’s a role that balances my love for organization, strategy and style.

I was a marketing writer for NC State before becoming senior editor, and I was a journalist before that. I’ve written about innovative researchers and driven students at the university, reported breaking news at WRAL, covered local education issues at The Gainesville Sun and copy edited wire stories for The New York Times. Lucky for me, working in higher education isn’t terribly different from working in newsrooms — I still get to learn new things every day.
